About Jonathan

Jonathan has spent his entire career providing the best support he can to help those around him succeed. In college, he walked on to the varsity football team as scout offense, helping the defense prepare for games. He was a defensive cutter on his college and club ultimate teams, locking down the fastest players he could match up against. Before transitioning into the fitness and bike industries, he worked as a middle school teacher.

Jonathan first got into bikes through working on them. The REI he worked at needed another mechanic to handle the repair volume, and Jonathan stepped in not out of passion but out of convenience. It wasn’t until after a few months of training that he found himself spending sleepless nights researching bottom bracket standards and tire pressure optimization that he realized he’d caught the bike bug, and he’s devoted every minute of free time since to becoming the best cyclist and mechanic he can.

Jonathan has been working as a certified personal trainer for the past five years, and holds additional certifications in balance training, corrective exercise and nutrition coaching. He specializes in everyday athletes: Normal people, not genetic outliers, who nevertheless want to try to shave a few minutes off of their 5k time, feel stronger when they go for a family hike on vacation, or keep up with their friends on the pickleball court or the local group ride.

The saying goes that racing improves the breed, and Jonathan has found over and over that the best way to evaluate what products, processes and protocols actually work is to put them to the test. Jonathan loves riding, and racing, his bike, and seeks out the most challenging races he can find, and especially loves self-supported bikepacking races. Jonathan holds the current fastest known time on the Bay Circuit Trail, a 209-mile loop around Boston, at 25 hours 36 minutes. He is a 2026 finisher of Ouachita DOOM, a 325mi singletrack heavy bikepacking race, in 3 days 8 hours. He also competes in road and gravel racing when his training permits it.

Knowledgeable, motivating, fun to be around, and possibly knows more about bike racing than any human reasonably should.
